Yeah…so I like Halloween

*Update* I finished my grim reaper and threw him in the yard. He has already attracted and scared away a few kiddies. I’ll have better lighting by tonight. Let me know what you think.

I decided to go a little ‘Halloween version of Clark W. Griswold’ this year, so I thought a homemade 7 foot tall grim reaper would be a good start. I got the idea from www.perfessorevil.com. It’s been pretty inexpensive, and as you can see, I’m almost done I just lack the hood which I’ll put on tonight. Then once it’s all on and set up, it will take three or four days for the monster mud to dry, and I’ll put it outside and continue to embarrass my wife. Let me know what you think. I’ll have more pictures of the other monsters and decorations I have up later this week. Click the picture below to see the other pictures of Mr. Reaper.

  1. I finished Mr. Reaper tonight, once it dries I will take pictures and post them. I know you all care…

Looks great! I like the puddled robes effect at the bottom.

BTW, if you want it a bit darker, you can mist it with black spraypaint. If you want to protect it from the elements, spray urethane works well… otherwise, you can just do what I did with mine when it got a bit tattered… slather some more monster mud over the top. LOL

    Nice work!

  3. thanks man, ill definitely do that.

Looks good baby!! I’m so scared of him! The finished product is awesome, and I’m glad you got to make your man! You’ve been talking about him for weeks! Our house looks pretty awesome this Halloween, everyone needs to come check it out! The neighborhood kids have already told us it’s the coolest house in the neighborhood! Go us!

You still have time to take it a step further and add some animation to it. Find yourself a battery operated…something, i dunno like a childs toy that comes with its own motor and then rig it up to the arms and head to make them move every so often. Then you could hook that up to a motion sensor so that it would move when someone came near it. Then you could put a voice box on there so it would speak when people came close, saying something like “The Grim Reaper is here for your soul!” in a high-pitched crypt-keeper voice. Then you could give it blood that would squirt out on people, maybe add some glowing eyes and ….a weapon, yea a weapon. It needs like a sickle or pitchfork…no a chainsaw, yea. Give it a effing chainsaw with a laser sight on top so he wont miss. Its gotta have dead bodies laying around so people know that its been killin for a while, no one respex a demon that hasnt killed yet. Itd be really cool if you could hook up some flying monkey skulls to come shooting out from under the robe that will go and pick up little kids by their heels and fly them back to the reaper so he can dispatch them executioner style. Do all that and I’ll be impressed.

  4. i totally agree…would real bodies actually be better?

Umm, no, no real bodies, especially since you have easy access to me living with you, so don’t even think about using me to better your Reaper! And no dog bodies either, no matter how annoying they may be sometimes!
